I’ve been thinking about the sessions I want myself and my team to shoot in 2026. Our family sessions are full of running, jumping, and laughing—that’s our signature. This year, we want to take it a step further by incorporating specific activities that capture even more of who your family really is, what you’re doing while pregnant, how life unfolds with a newborn, what your kids’ favorite board games are.
The bodega run at 28 weeks pregnant when you’re craving something cold and sweet. The Sunday morning bagel ritual with a brand-new baby. Pizza night when everyone’s eating slices on the street corner under harsh streetlight (yes, with flash). Game night chaos on your living room floor. These are real NYC moments that feel so ordinary right now but will look like magic in ten years.
Here’s what we’re hoping to photograph this year. If one of these sounds like your family, let’s make it happen.
NYC Maternity Session Ideas
- DUMBO Flea Market: Weekend market browsing while pregnant. The light, the vintage finds, navigating crowds with your belly. We’ll capture you trying on fun big coats, discovering accessories, and finding the best sunglasses (I always find mine there). Soaking it all in before life completely changes.
- Record shop: Browsing for records to play for your baby. We’ll capture you flipping through crates at Rough Trade in Williamsburg or Academy Records in Greenpoint. Discovering albums, reading liner notes, building a collection for those early months.
- Bodega run: Seven months pregnant, wandering your neighborhood bodega for ice cream or a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll. We capture you browsing the snack aisle, chatting with the bodega cat, stepping out onto the sidewalk with your haul. Then a walk through your neighborhood—the streets you know by heart, the route you’ll soon be doing with a stroller.
NYC Newborn Session Ideas
- Sunday morning bagels: Pajamas for everyone. Someone makes a bagel run and comes back with way too many. We capture the slow morning—feeding the baby, spreading cream cheese with one hand, coffee getting cold on the counter.
- Newborn + furry sibling: Your dog or cat meeting the baby. Maybe they’re suspicious, maybe they’re obsessed, maybe they’re still figuring it out. We’ll document how your family is adjusting—all of you.
- Flower Market: Taking your newborn to the flower district. The color, the chaos, strangers stopping to peek at the baby. We capture you navigating it all—stroller, blooms, the beautiful mess of getting out of the house with a brand-new human.
NYC Toodler Session Ideas
- Farmers market + tasting: Browsing the farmers market together, touching the produce, tasting samples, filling up a tote bag. We capture the colors, the curiosity, the way toddlers get genuinely excited about strawberries. Union Square, Grand Army Plaza, wherever your regular spot is.
- Painting in the park (or backyard/stoop): Big canvases, finger paints, drop cloths spread out. Kids and parents painting together, getting messy, completely focused on creating. We capture the paint-covered hands, the concentration, the joy of making something. Then pack up and head home (or jump in the bath!).
- Ice cream + storytime: Their favorite ice cream shop, their favorite books. We capture them digging into a cone while you read together, sticky fingers turning pages, the sweetness of both. A perfect slow afternoon.
NYC Family Session Ideas
- Pizza night – eating slices on the street: No sitting at a restaurant. No napkins. Grabbing slices and eating them standing on the sidewalk or sitting on their scooters. Shooting with flash—gritty, real, exactly like New York pizza night should feel.
- Game night at home: Your living room floor covered in Uno cards, someone arguing about the rules, someone winning, someone dramatically losing. We capture the laughter, the competition, the way your family plays together.
- Subway adventures: Taking the train as a family. Tapping in, holding hands on the platform, your toddler is fascinated by the tile patterns. We’ll document a real subway journey—wherever you’re going, we’re coming along.
